Fogn & Sjernarøyene

Your adventure begins on the express boat from Stavanger Hurtigbåtterminal to the idyllic island of Fogn (see separate timetable below). The journey takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes, depending on the day of travel.

On Fogn, you can enjoy a scenic 11-kilometer cycling route around the island, giving you plenty of time to explore its unique attractions. A highlight of your visit is the hike up to Ørnareiret, Stavanger’s very first day-trip cabin. For the shortest route, park your bike at Erås and continue on foot to the cabin, where you will be rewarded with stunning views.

For children – and the young at heart – Robin Hood Forest is a true paradise, offering exciting trails and secret hideaways. Art enthusiasts should not miss The FOGN Experience, where Pia Myrvold exhibits her artwork. Here, you can also purchase locally made art and crafts.

After discovering Fogn, take the express boat to Helgøy to explore Sjernarøyene, a charming archipelago made up of several small islands. A full round trip through the islands covers approximately 30 kilometers. If you wish to fully immerse yourself in this island world, we recommend an overnight stay at Sjernarøy Maritim.

On Nord-Talgje, you will find a Joker grocery store, open every day except Sunday. The island is also home to an exciting historical site – the Marble Quarry, a fascinating place well worth a visit. If you travel in July, make sure to stop by Handelsstedet Ramsvig, which is open every day except Mondays.
